the proposal

On March 26th, Candace and I took a trip to Washington DC to visit the city and my friend Will who lives there. Little did she know that I had some ulterior motives. After arriving on Thursday and spending most of the day on Friday and Saturday touring all the great museums and government buildings, we took time Saturday night to attend a silent art auction with Will. With Will as our chauffeur we arrived at the Decatur house, a block away from the White House. At the auction we listened to a harpist, ate delicious food, and rubbed elbows with DC's elite. Afterwards, we drove to the Tidal Basin/Jefferson Memorial. This is where I proposed!

The actual proposal was a little comical given the fact that I had injured my knee and it was incredibly swollen. The one time in my life I really needed my knee! The funny thing is I practiced getting down on one knee, found the least painful way to do it, then completely forgot which knee it was and barely made it. I think Candace was so surprised she didn’t really notice any of this, so lets not remind her! The scenery more than made up for my lack of gracefulness. That area is so beautiful this time of year with cherry blossoms blooming, and the reflection of the Memorial in the water. It was perfect. After thinking it over for an extremely long time (about 2 seconds) she said yes! I’m glad she did!

We've posted some pics below and can't wait to get everyone together at the wedding!
