About Candace
What can I say? I was born and raised in Memphis, TN so I'm a Southern girl with soul! I got hooked on art when I was about 8... I could spend hours holed up in my room drawing, painting or writing. I can't believe I get paid to do something I love now! I am so blessed to have been brought up in a strong Christian home by parents who love Jesus. Because of their faith and example, I fellin love with Him too at an early age. I also have an awesome younger sister and brother I adore... they make me laugh til it hurts sometimes! I started singing at my grandfather's church when I was about 3 years old and haven't stopped since! I feel so priveleged that God chose to mature that gift so I could offer it back to Him. Little did I know it would end up playing a huge role in bringing James and I together...
James and I met about 3 years before we started dating, leading worship at Highpoint Church. I never thought of him as anything more than a good friend and an insanely talented musician! Our first "date" wasover coffee and I say "date" because at the time, I was NOT looking for a relationship but James, in his charming way, had convinced me it was "just coffee" with a friend. Yeah right! So that went on for about a month and in the meantime, we prayed... for God's direction and for Him to make it clear whether we should officially date. That prayer was answered and we took a step of faith toward each other to see what more God had in store. Well that was over 3 years ago and how awesome it is to see His faithfulness and His goodness to give us both our hearts desires... each other! I remember praying before I ever met James that the Lord would bless me with a marriage that began in friendship. God is so good!
About James
I've lived in Memphis for most of my life, but I've never really latched onto the whole Southern thing. This has led to some pretty hilarious conversations between Candace and I. Lets just say she had to get me up to speed on the lingo! I do love the rock n roll spirit of Memphis as well as the many friends that I have here, I can’t wait to see everyone at the wedding!
My family is awesome. I have a younger brother, older sister, and parents who have set a great example for me to follow. I owe so much to them. Pretty much everything from my first keyboard to becoming a Christian trace back to their influence. They’re the best.
I started getting into music when I was younger, taking piano lessons,and writing songs. Little did I know that God had a plan for me touse those skills for Him. Since I was a teenager, I've been playing in different bands, leading worship, learning new instruments, and recording. I love just about anything that creates a musical sound - guitars, drums, orchestras - love it. So this takes us to how I met Candace. I really feel like God worked everything out for us to be together, starting with Him putting us together in a worship band. Six years ago, I was asked to play weekly at Highpoint Church. Candace was a singer in the band and we saw each other every week, but never really thought about dating. We talked when we were in between practice and services, but nothing outside of that. Then one day, it hit me, I should see if Candace wants to hang out... she’s fun, we have a lot in common, we have good conversations, and she’s gorgeous. Kind of a no brainer. We started hanging out, and haven’t stopped since. She’s amazing. I’m so excited to marry her and call her my wife.
